SISTORY
The Hillbilly Harlots were born from an idea by our founder and Mother Superior Annie Philaxis in July 2015 to bring this organization to Northwest Arkansas. We officially became an Aspirant House of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence on June 11, 2016, coincidentally hours before the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. This tragedy rapidly fueled our passion for serving our community, and we were accepted by the United Nuns Privy Council as an official mission house of SPI in January 2017 as The Arkansas Sisters, Abbey of Hillbilly Harlots. The Hillbilly Harlots have since been working towards becoming a fully professed house of SPI. Our work is mainly carried out by hosting events to raise funds for different organizations, and we are proud to have raised money for Lucy’s Place, NWA Center for Equality, and many organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community in NWA, The river valley, and throughout our state. We also take pride in the work we do by going out into the community to simply spread joy, laughter, love, light, and kindness.
